Julian Rebolledo
Voice-over artist
“How did you get into voice-over?” If I had a nickel …
I started acting when I was 12 and discovered I could sing when we were all forced to sing “My Country Tis of Thee” to audition for the school musical. Then I did the morning announcements over the loudspeaker at Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. From early dismissal to pep rallies, I was the voice the student body heard, and I always managed to inject some humor and improv into my early VO “work”. Mixtapes I made for my friends in the 80s were filled not only with The Smiths and The Cure, but also with my best Casey Kasem commentary – recorded in my bedroom on the internal microphone of a dual cassette player. After high school, I headed to New York where I dove deeper into music and acting, finding voice-over soon after I arrived in 1993. And here I am 30 years later.
What else? I’m 100% Colombian and fluent in Spanish. I’m the proud father of two girls (and an awesome dog) and married to another voice-over artist. I love to bike, bake and bend (I’m an avid yogi).
I’ve done many things - theatre, concerts, opera, film & TV, mo-cap, video games - but all roads kept leading back to voice-over. Want proof? I co-own the recording studio Hyperbolic Audio and its voice-over training division, Shut Up & Talk.
The voices in my head have been recorded and broadcast on every conceivable device. In 2014, I added the title of Voice Director to my bag of tricks. Click here to learn more about the Julian on the other side of the glass.
